Windsor
Regiment Mini Corps performs at 9/11 Ceremony
On
September 11, 2009 Windsor Regiment Mini Corps was honored to participate
in a ceremony held inside at Township Hall (due to inclement weather)
paying tribute to fallen residents in the September 11, 2001 attacks on
the World Trade Center in New York City.
The
Mini Corps performed Star Spangled Banner, and following a wreath laying
segment performed a somber version of Taps, written by noted composer
and arranger Larry Kerchner.
Township
residents Patty Ryan, Teresa Cunningham, and Teresa's son Liam spoke to
the audience. Both women lost their husbands in the attacks. Liam was
born just two weeks before the attacks.

What
is Mini Corps?
Mini
Corps is a competition venue for drum corps with a limit of 21 competing
members per unit. Competitions are primarily held indoors with some exhibition
on a small field. Windsor Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps, located in
West Windsor, NJ, formed a mini corps in 2007 and made a few appearances
in the 2008 season including the MCA (Mini Corps Associates) Championship
in Albany, NY in September.

Rehearsals
are held in West Windsor, NJ and will resume after the DCA Finals being
held in Rochester, NY over the Labor Day weekend. Our show schedule is
light with only five or six appearances over the course of the season
and we are very friendly to those who are marching in College, DCA, or
Alumni Corps organizations with respect to their schedules.
Windsor
Regiment Mini Corps is planning to compete again in the 2010 season. The
group is also moving forward with the purchase of new instruments for
the brass section as well as a uniform change. For more information, please
contact our Corps
Director.

Windsor Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
On
December 7th, Windsor Regiment performed for the Township residents
at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The group assembled
with a blend of holiday music that enhanced the celebratory fireworks
following the lighting of the tree. Although it was bitterly cold
weather that evening, those in attendance seemed to enjoy having
live music as part of the celebration as there were many well-wishers
offering thanks to the corps for making this tradition even better.
Windsor Regiment has been invited back for 2009 and is again looking
forward to serving our Township with pride.

Windsor
Regiment Mini Corps was a hit in Albany!
Windsor
Regiment's Mini Corps made its debut at the Mini Corps Associates
Championship in Albany, NY on September 27th. The Mini Corps finished
in seventh place with a respectable score of 83.3 and had clearly
won the approval of the crowd with its performance of excerpts from
Stan Kenton's West Side Story as the corps received a standing ovation
while they were finishing the final number, "Somewhere".
It was a rewarding experience for our group and an honor to join
forces with some of the best mini corps in America to make this
first MCA Championship a success.

Fund
Raising Drive
Windsor Regiment
as part of Xtreme Drum Corps, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
and depends on your donations to keep us growing and able to meet
our equipment needs and operating expenses. With the good will of
a few donations in 2008, Windsor Regiment was able to secure enough
equipment to present a competing MIni Corps to represent our Township
in the Drum Corps arena. Our organization has plans to keep growing
and with your help will purchase the needed equipment to put a parade
and exhibition Drum Corps on the street as well as move forward
with our plan to grow a youth oriented division as part of our program.
The very survival of organizations such as ours depends on the generosity
of people like you to keep Drum & Bugle Corps alive in America.
Please consider making a donation to help make our 2010 season even
more of a success than the previous year.
