What is Xtreme Drum Corps?

( A brief history)

The Crossmen Xtreme Min Corps was started by Mr. Nigel Jackson (2006 - 2007 Director) as an all-age mini-corps and a member of MCA and DCA consisting of 22 members for competitive purposes. The 2007 Competition ‘book’ was titled “Bones on Broadway”, a “Best of Broadway” compellation (mostly excerpts of themes done by drum corps over the years) This piece was created in 2002 by the staff arranger for The Royal Marines Band Service Mr Michael McDermott and performed by the massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines for the annual Mountbatten Festival of Music held at the Royal Albert Hall in London England every year. It was performed for only this occasion and we have the authorization of the composer for its use. The piece was adapted and re-scored by our 2006 - 2007 in house creative team of Nigel Jackson, Phil Evans, and Brian Patishnock for brass and percussion ensemble.

The name "Crossmen" was dropped in favor of being known as Xtreme Drum Corps in August of 2007, a few weeks before the DCA Championships in Rochester, NY. Xtreme Drum Corps sent a mini corps, Xtreme MIni Corps to Rochester to compete in the Mini Corps Championship finishing thirteenth and ending the season having completed the primary goal, to field a formidable Mini Corps by season's end. The Xtreme Drum Corps filed to become a not-for-profit corporation in September of 2007 when it was decided by Crossmen Xtreme founder Nigel Jackson and Xtreme Classic Corps director Kevin Serfass that steps were needed to take the organization to the next level in order to ensure its survival and growth.

In October of 2007 Mr. Jackson had broken the news to the organization the he was leaving the United States for work in Europe. Along with his departure there was a bit of unrest and confusion as to what direction the organization would take in his absence. In November 2007 the Board of Trustees for Xtreme Drum Corps, Inc. decided that because of shortages in equipment and resources the Xtreme Mini Corps would no longer rehearse in Pennsylvania and opted to bring the entire organization home to New Jersey where it resides today in West Windsor. Xtreme Drum Corps, Inc. decided to change the name of our full drum corps to "Windsor Regiment" in honor of our home town while continuing our Xtreme Mini Corps under the Windsor Regiment name.
